My first blog!

Welcome to my blog. This first post will be an introduction to me and an overview of my plans for future entries so you have an idea of where I am heading. If I get off track, as one of my loyal followers, please nudge me and say, “Hey, what’s up with your blog?”

I am married and have two wonderful daughters who, since moving out, have been more wonderful than ever before. I do miss them, but get to see them every week along with my grandson. I actually believe they enjoyed moving out more than I did and perhaps they will leave a comment on this post to confirm. My wife, Carol, puts up with a lot, mostly me of course, but if she is as happy as I am after 32 years, then maybe it is not as bad for her as I think it is sometimes. We enjoy playing tennis, relaxing at the beach, and going to hockey and the occasional baseball games. Gardening is another interest we both share, but I think I am more practical as I like to grown things you can eat and she is more about the colors and appearance. Her gardens are lovely!

My goal for this blog is to inform people about the books I have written and will be writing in the future. My first book, Plane Excitement, is a short one and was perfect for me to get my feet wet and learn how things work in the publishing world. Plane Excitement is a collection of short stories about the interesting people and things I have seen while traveling for work. It is currently free to download from all major outlets. Again, let me repeat—it’s free! What are you waiting for? Grab your copy!

My second book, Occupied, is based on my father’s life growing up in occupied Norway during WWII. My wife recently became interested in genealogy and needed interesting stories from both sides of my family to add to the photos she’d collected. I started writing down the stories my father told me on our trip to Norway for his 70th birthday and, with his passing, I wanted to make sure that what he shared was true, so I asked my aunt and uncle to confirm the tales. It did not take long to learn that they were true and as I discovered more about my father’s life during that period, I decided the stories should be written down for all to read. Occupied is the result. It will be released this spring and I am currently running a promotion on my website—individuals who sign up to receive information about the presale will be entered for a chance to win an autographed copy of the book.

Both of my books are tied to something greater than the stories themselves. Individuals who read Plane Excitement are invited to make a donation to the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) and a portion of the proceeds from Occupied will also go to the NHF. Thank you to those who have donated already and I look forward to continuing my work with this organization.

Thanks for reading so far and keep an eye out for future posts!
